The Central Bank of Venezuela expands monetary denomination with the introduction of two new banknotes

The Central Bank of Venezuela announced on August 16, 2024 the introduction of two new banknotes of Bs. 200.00 and Bs. 500.00 to the current currency system. These banknotes will circulate gradually.

Moreover, through Resolution No. 24-08-01 (Official Gazette No. 42.952 of August 29, 2024), the Central Bank of Venezuela established that the “Bolívar Soberano” banknotes of Bs. 10,000, Bs. 20,000, Bs. 50,000 and Bs. 200,000 will circulate until September 25, 2024, moment at which they will become null and void (Article 1).

The notes and coins of the same or lower denomination may be deposited in banking institutions until 15:00 on September 30, 2024 for accreditation (Article 2).

This Resolution enters into force when it is published in the Official Gazette; this is, from August 29, 2024 (Article 4).
